Perth real estate agent wears gas mask to walk through extremely run-down Armadale home

A real estate agent has had to wear a gas mask to walk through a home being sold in a suburb once considered one of Perth’s worst.

From the outside, 34 Dawson Street, Armadale seems like a decent home, but what’s inside will shock you.

With a “fully functional grow room”, a bubble wrap ceiling and something broken in just about every room, the house is not for the faint-hearted.

O’Neil Real Estate agent Ash Swarts — who recently went viral for listing a home in Kelmscott that was being sold with a bong inside — said the house “is only for the brave” as he revealed the terrible interior of the property selling for nearly half a million dollars.

“Now one of the first problems you’re gonna see with this house is the roof,” Mr Swarts said as he panned the camera upwards to show a bubble pool cover filling a significant hole in the ceiling.

“That bubble wrap is probably not structural.”

But that’s not even the worst of it.

Speaking to PerthNow, Mr Swarts said a mysterious black cat is the worst thing about the house.

“A black cat seems to have adopted the house as its own. It prowls the property, appearing and disappearing at will.

“There is a mysterious air about it, as if it knows all the secrets hidden in the nooks and crannies of the house. It’s like having your very own spooky, yet oddly charming, house mascot!”

While this house doesn’t come with a bong, the real estate agent can’t rule out that illegal activity occurred in the house, with one room having been transformed into a room perfectly suited to growing marijuana.

“You may have missed it last time we sold a property we had a bong, this time we got a full grow room. I mean if you know you know.

“It was used by the previous owners to grow medicinal plants for their own medical needs,” he revealed.

“Future owners could tap into its potential for an array of unconventional uses. Like why not grow rare tropical plants and start an Instagram sensation?”

Mr Swarts jokingly reminds potential buyers that the home is being sold “as is”, meaning everything seen inside, including dirty curtains, non-functional appliances and even a broken-down car, is included in the sale.

While the house certainly isn’t ready for someone to move into, Mr Swarts said the property that sits on an 870 m2 block does actually have a lot of potential.
